Letting someone go is hard. Letting them go when they aren’t really leaving is even harder. Today I had to say a “farewell” to the only person that has always been “there” in my life, my best friend Mandee.

Mandee and I met years ago in high school. We met through FCLA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) about 2001. When we met, we were both very different from now’s time. And though we both have grown and in a way, grown in separate ways, we have always stayed faithful and true to the best friendship ever endured with the other. She’s an amazing blessing of an individual. I’m sad to see her leave, but happy to wish her a fareWELL.

It is indeed a fareWELL. Mandee is on her way to teach English to up to 6th graders in South Korea. I support her decision in anything she pursues and especially in this one. I know those whom will experience her as a person, a teacher, and a friend, will experience it well. While I am “losing” my best friend, the world is gaining a mad talented, compassionate heart.

Farewell my friend, I’ll see you in a year…if you don’t fall in love with the culture and never return home to the South!
